This is yet another gem I’ve received from Glossybox and I love it! Unfortunately, it is a discontinued product, at least, to my knowledge. I think it’s unique that it labels an expiration date on it, even though it seems to wear just fine after it’s passed. What’s annoying is that I was sent this without enough time to use up the entire product. This bright orange-y coral color is too bright and bold for my preferred daily looks so there was no way I would use it on a consistent daily basis, but it is a gorgeous color nonetheless.
I love that the bottom of the tube is clear because it saves me time by making it much easier to pick out the color I’m intending to use instead of having to open and close through a bunch of different lip products. The cap is securely twisted on it which gives me piece of mind that it won’t come open in my bag whenever I bring it along with me. Unfortunately, the sticker on the bottom is unreliable because it’s constantly falling off and sticking to other things. I think it would’ve been wiser to have the color imprinted on the tube along with the lettering for the brand name and product type.
The mirrored hot pink wand handle, along with its length and how thin it is makes it way easier to hold and apply the product. I do love the soft wand tip because it makes for a quick and gentle application without any pulling on my skin. The slender tube makes it a great travel companion because it fits in a pen slot in a bag and doesn’t take up much space if packed in a suitcase.
It’s hard to believe this is labeled as just a lip gloss because it has the opacity and pigment power of a liquid lipstick. Yes, it has more shine than the average cream lipstick, so maybe that’s how it fell into the ‘lip gloss’ category, but I feel more comfortable using it as a lipstick than a lip gloss. It does help intensify what color I apply it over, but it will bleed so lip liner is a necessity. There is quite a bit of moisturizing that comes along with this and it blurs out any chapped or dry spots that are on my lips.
The texture never really seems like it dries, but that’s not necessarily the worst thing because I’d much rather have a product feel moisturizing when wearing it than one that dries out and in turn dries out my lips. This gloss does stain so wearing lip liner and lip balm underneath that is a quick fix for that issue. There isn’t any feathering, but there is smudging and transferring so touch-ups are necessary, and you’ll need to take caution when kissing and drinking.
The formula works well with other lip products without breaking up or compromising the integrity of this lip gloss and there it doesn’t settle into the vertical lines on my lips, either. Another great bonus is that the color doesn’t oxidize so the color in the tube is the color you get when applied.
The price isn’t the worst, but since it’s discontinued, I guess this category isn’t that big of a concern. If this product ever did return, I might repurchase it if they managed to reformulate it to prevent the bleeding from occurring.
