What it is:
An easy-application, waterproof liquid liner that stays on all day and night.
What it does:
This easy-glide, quick-dry precision liner stays in place until you say when—no smudges, feathering, or running. The thin, marker-like tip is easy to use, even for the beauty beginner, and delivers any look—from a thin line to a bold, dramatic stroke. It goes on smoothly without skipping, smudging, or pulling, and lasts all day.
Our #1 selling waterproof liquid liner enables you to create a variety of eye-opening effects—from thin, precise lines to thick, dramatic looks. The formula glides on with ease, dries quickly and won’t smudge or run day-into-night.
The fine marker-like tip offers precise application for everyone from novices to pros and results in beautifully defined eyes that will leave a lasting impression.
I got this from a Sephora Favorites set a while back as a full-size and although it’s a great liquid eyeliner, it isn’t my favorite. I lucked out with the set because this came as a full-size which gives me more of a lengthy opportunity to have a thorough experience with this before I decide if this is something I would keep in my kit long-term. It’s not easy finding an eyeliner that is true to its promise of a waterproof formula that doesn’t fade its pigment upon drying, but this stays true to that.
I’m not exactly a fan of pencil/marker-themed products because they never apply as well as products in jars that can be applied with brushes. For example, my preference with liquid eyeliners is cake eyeliners because they can be used with brushes for a more precise and quick application. As far as pencil eyeliners, I prefer the products be packaged in twist-up tubes for less waste and no need for extra tools.
For those looking for convenience in an eyeliner with a waterproof formula, this is a good choice. There are precautions to take when dealing with a tube of liquid eyeliner like it needing to be stored horizontally, not vertically. This contains a chemical scent to it, but it dissipates shortly after it dries after application.
The tube is nice and thin, making it easy to control in my hand for applications, but the tube also has its downsides. For example, it cannot be stored vertically either way because upright, all the liquid sinks to the bottom, gives the illusion that the product is empty and dries out the felt tip, yet, storing it upside down pushes all the fluid to the tip creating a pool in the cap and a mess as soon as the cap is removed.
The felt tip is nice and thin which makes an easy application for the body of a winged eyeliner look, but the felt tip is too flimsy and never creates a sharp point. I’m not sure if it’s because the tip is so thin that it causes it to dry out so quickly, but it’s a quick fix by re-capping the tube and giving it a couple shakes.
I do admire the strength of the cap, however, because it takes a bit of pull to remove it which gives me piece of mind that it won’t come off in my bag when I bring it along on my travels or to the gym. Also, I like how soft the felt-tip is because when I apply it, there is no scratching or tugging on my skin which is a huge win because the skin on our eye areas is some of the most delicate on our bodies. Unfortunately, since this tip is felt, meaning it can absorb any bacteria on your eyes, it can’t be used in makeup kits.
The color is intense, as Stila promises and is true to its waterproof promises, once it’s dried thoroughly. It takes only a couple minutes to dry, but worth the wait, because if you don’t, it’ll imprint on the upper lid and won’t budge once it has dried which would not only waste time and product by forcing a redo of makeup. This is one of most reliable formulas because it stays put through swimming, raining, crying, and any other water-based events you might come across.
There’s tons of product in this skinny, little tube and it’s lasted me quite some time which is great for those trying to make the most of their purchase. Every time I use this, the liner stays put until time to wash it off, but even that is a chore. Removing this is a bit annoying because it doesn’t come off with just my regular face wash like the rest of my makeup, but instead requires me to get a cotton swab dunked in some strong makeup remover and gently swipe away the product to guarantee its removal and reassurance that I won’t get an infection from residual product later on.
My best suggestion would be to keep your eyes closed while the product dries to avoid it creasing or bleeding in the lines on your eyes. There is a shiny finish when its dried, but I always set my eyeliner with eyeshadow to not only prevent imprinting but to mattify the eyeliner’s finish.
This product seems to last forever, despite the amount stated in the description. Since this isn’t something I can use in my MUA kit nor is it a preference of eyeliner formula of mine, it doesn’t seem like a worthwhile purchase for me. It is one I could recommend for someone who prefers a marker-like packaging for the convenience and wanting less tools to manage and constantly re-clean. It all depends on the lifestyle and maintenance preference. Since it does provide multiple benefits to its general use, it is a worthwhile mention to my friends who want a quick and easy product to add to their collection.
