What it is:
A pigment-loaded lipstick in matte and cream finishes that glide on brilliant color in just one swipe.
What it does:
Be Legendary Lipstick’s hydrating, satin-smooth creams soften and protect lips with shea butter and vitamins C and E. The silky, vitamin-fortified mattes stay put without drying out or settling unevenly on the lips. Each lipstick formula pops on camera and stays color-true in photos.
What else you need to know:
Be Legendary was named after the first red lipstick developed at Smashbox. It’s a classic Hollywood shade inspired by their L.A. photo studio—and the iconic celebs who are shot there to this day.
This product is cruelty-free and is formulated without sodium lauryl sulfate and talc.
-To change the shape of lips, subtly round out your upper lip around the Cupid’s bow with Always Sharp Lip Liner for an iconic, heart-shaped pout.
-Use Punked as a transformer shade to darken and deepen other lipsticks, or tap Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer over cream shades to instantly make them matte—and to double your lipstick collection.
This is one of the many gems I acquired by buying a Sephora Favorites set. Anyone who knows me or has read some of my previous reviews knows I am a huge advocate of the makeup and skincare sets bundled together by Sephora because they’re such a great deal of deluxe minis and a few full-size products. Altogether, the set value always pays for itself and by the off-chance that I don’t like a product in the set, it isn’t as much of a loss as purchasing the full-size.
This lipstick has a faint, sweet smell to it that reminds me of cupcakes, yum! I lucked out with getting this as one of the full-size products in the Sephora Favorites sets I bought and it’s definitely a keeper, even though the color is discontinued. Despite that, the formula is still amazing and will definitely take a permanent residence in my makeup collection.
I LOVE the structured, box shape to it because it sets forth a sophisticated and chic vibe to the product before it’s even open or used. The cap is sturdy and secure by smoothly, yet slowly releasing the cap upon opening and reveals a dark gray, mirrored inner tube. The tube of lipstick itself is so sleek and gorgeous to marvel at, let alone use. It is one of the more sturdier sticks of product in comparison to other company’s formulas that break and falter under any kind of pressure used during application.
Its small size makes it a great choice for travel but take precautions when taking it anywhere with excessive heat because the metal material only accelerates the heat transfer which increases the chances of the product melting. The packaging feels light, yet it’s held up quite well against the numerous times I’ve accidentally dropped it.
Normally, I don’t purchase colors this light in the nude category because I’m so pale and they cause me to look sickly, instead of natural or sophisticated. This color in particular, looks like the Latte color as a caramel nude color, but the Latte color formula is a matte finish, while this has a cream finish. I prefer cream finishes because most matte formulas destroy my lips by overdrying and causing a lot of unnecessary damage.
The formula lasts relatively long compared to other cream lipsticks, even through all my chatter and drinking (water, obviously) throughout the day. I have yet to need lip liner when using this because it doesn’t bleed or settle into the vertical lines on my lips like some other formulas do that end up enhancing signs of aging. The shine from this is light, yet still gives off a chic and glamorous result. My lips feel so luxurious and moisturized from this rich lipstick formula.
Since I don’t feel comfortable using this on its own regularly, I like to use it to mix with other colors to give a lighter, brown twist of color to it. It doesn’t feather during wear, and when it fades, it’s gradual and even, giving me a buffer in between touch-ups. Yes, it does transfer, but that is generally a given when it comes to cream/shine lipsticks formulas and can smudge with enough pressure, so caution when kissing and changing clothes.
With its opaque finish, it gives an even base to mix with another color, or an easy swipe to apply less product for as much coverage as it takes a few swipes of other lipstick formulas. My lips are left feeling healthy and conditioned for a couple hours after the product is gone and it’s a quick, but pressured swipe to remove the product at the end of the day.
With the color being so pigmented, each application requires little product for a lot of color payoff, which makes this product last longer than many competitor formulas. For as conditioning as this is and how well it works with other products, I can vouch for the outstanding value of this amazing product.
