My Thoughts:

I came upon this product from my Glossybox subscription and was pretty excited to try it considering I had just found out my current favorite brow gel was being discontinued. Being a translucent color, this makes a great option for any MUA’s kit because it provides less weight and space to carry around a bunch of different products and instead, I can use disposable spoolies for any client over a brow powder/pomade that compliments their look.

Glossybox comes through when they send full-size goodies, like this one that gives subscribers more time to thoroughly try out a product before we have to decide on making this a permanent item in our makeup routine. The gel has a light, sweet smell to it that kind of reminds me of marshmallows.

Packaging:                                                ★★★★/5

I like the gold on green design to the box, and it’s nice how well-informed the box is for all details and tidbits about the product. Upon opening the box and pulling the tube out, I notice it isn’t as big of a tube as it makes you think. The bottom of the box is blocked and hollowed out giving the illusion of a longer tube. The spoolie inside makes it convenient for bringing this for touch-ups and carrying less around for traveling.

The spoolie is a downside for MUAs who use this in their kits, though, because it isn’t sanitary to use the same spoolie on multiple clients and keep dipping it back into the tube with various bacteria and dead skin cells from people. The best tip to fix that is to clip the spoolie off that way it doesn’t keep picking up product every time I pull it out nor does it keep pumping air inside the tube to encourage the product drying out.

The size itself is great for traveling because it’s very petite and the sturdy plastic material makes it resistant to most damage. The downside to the spoolie inside is that if its used over any pigmented product, it’ll pick up some of that and bring it back into the tube. Personally, I don’t mind that since I’m only using it on myself, but it is technically unsanitary and off-putting to use the spoolie inside.

Performance/Wear:                               ★★★★/5

I couldn’t help but be excited to try this because of how sweet it smelled and because of its clear color that gives me the ability to be more creative with brow colors (special FX or vibrant colors). My preferred method is to start with clean brows and use a pomade to first add color in sparse spots and give my brow hairs more hold, then layer brow powder over that to set the pomade and intensify the pigment on my brows, and finishing off with gel to give a firm hold to my brows so that way the powder or pomade won’t be smudged throughout the wear time.

The hold on this isn’t as strong as I was hoping it would be, but then again, it came in a box at a discounted rate so I’m not complaining too much about it. I just made a mental note that this brow gel is more meant for those who are looking for a more natural look or for makeup minimalists. This can also double as a clear mascara if you’d like, but keep in mind it won’t add intense length or thickness like a normal mascara would.

There isn’t a white cast nor does it flake off throughout the day, which is a huge factor in whether or not a brow gel is worth its while. Overall, this is a decent brow gel, with only minor setbacks to it. I’d much rather use this over expensive luxury brand formulas for daily wear and get a gel with stronger hold for more dramatic looks.

For how long this product lasts, it is definitely worth the cost. It smells good and has a decent hold to it which makes it a better choice for those who would use it daily over spending more for the same or less product from more expensive brands.
