My Thoughts:

I got this in Sephora Favorites set with a bunch of other lip products and I immediately fell in love with this. Now, the color is a but lighter than I normally wear, but it still wears well and gives me motivation to broaden my creativity to create looks that work with this color. The set this came in was quite the steal because I got quite a few full-size and deluxe mini products for the price of a couple of the full-size products (Winning!). There is a faint, sweet scent to this that I’m bittersweet about because sometimes I love it and it makes me happy to use this, and sometimes I’m not feeling it and am grossed out by the smell. That may sound weird, but I can only tolerate sweet-scented things in phases, never on a consistent basis.

I never need to use foundation or concealer to get a precise application because the angled tip to the stick works just fine for that, but it is a helpful suggestion for those who are just starting out wearing makeup and make a few mistakes in the process. The color is buildable, but only so much and retains it’s fresh, pigmented, shiny finish for hours.

Packaging:                                                ★★★★★/5

The sleek gold coating on the tube immediately sets the vibe for a prestigious product with a simple design. With just the brand name and initials imprinted on the tube, it adds a bit of elegant detail to the overall product packaging. The fact alone that it is a twist-up product and not one that requires sharpening is already a win in my book. Now, a lot of lipsticks that come in stick forms tend to have compromised physical integrity when pressure is applied to the product during application, but this one does not, fortunately. The cream stick is strong enough to withstand pressing this on my lips without squishing down or breaking off like a lot of cream sticks tend to do.

The cap stays on pretty well, but not so much that it’s difficult to remove. I have yet to have an incident where this causes a mess in my bag from the cap getting knocked off which makes it great for bringing along with me in my purse or in my luggage for travel. The tube is skinnier than the average lipstick tube and in turn, that gives a more comfortable grip to the product when applying. The arched shape of the top of the stick makes it easier to angle for applications than a flat-top lipstick.

What’s also impressed me is how well the outer packaging has resisted damage like scratches and dents despite the number of things it’s rustled against in my bags and how many times I’ve accidentally dropped it.

Performance/Wear:                               ★★★★★/5

This product is another reason why I love cream lipsticks so much. From the power of the pigment to how well this feels on my lips, this is definitely a keeper! The color itself is a bit bright for my preference, but still a gorgeous color nonetheless and can double as a cream blush. Even though it’s really pigmented, it doesn’t seem to have a truly opaque result and still shows up somewhat sheer no matter how much I try to build it up. Caution with that, by the way, because the color will only build up so much and then it just starts to look streaky and settle into the lines on my lips. By that, I mean it settles into the lines ON my lips, not my lip line; it doesn’t bleed. That being said, this is just another lipstick that makes lip liners useless because this holds up well on its own.

The formula has a cream finish which means it provides substantial pigment, with a bit of shine. Now, it doesn’t have as much shine as a lip gloss would, but the amount of shine is noticeable, but appropriate. I personally don’t favor lip glosses very much because they tend to feel too heavy and sticky, so this finish provides the perfect bit of shine for my liking. It is true to the description about this being very moisturizing and leaving my lips conditioned for hours after it’s worn off, but with all that goodness for my lips, the transferability is inevitable. For me, that isn’t a deal breaker because I’d much rather wear a product that’s good for my skin and transfers a bit and requires touchups more often than one that is awful for the integrity of my skin and doesn’t budge in any way during wear time and usually is a chore to remove.

It does have the benefit of fading evenly and gradually throughout the day all while not feathering at any point. With that, I’m able to buy more time in between touchups without my lips looking like I’m wearing makeup I slept in. This does help the overall health of my lips, but if my lips are chapped prior to application, it will show through the color, if not intensify it (depending how chapped my lips are). So, I recommend exfoliating your lips prior to application to give the lipstick a smooth, even surface, and there’s no need to apply lip balm prior to this lipstick. It doesn’t affect the product negatively, but there’s no need for it and it really only wastes your lip balm.

Considering how long this product has lasted me, I gotta say that this is well worth the price tag. Would I buy the same color again? Probably not, but I do want to try some of the other colors in the product line. You get quite a bit of pigment in one sweep over my lips and it doesn’t take much for each application. Even using this as a cream blush, this has still lasted me quite some time, making this worth its price that much more. Including how amazing it makes my lips feel and the sturdy packaging, this is a win, for sure.
