What it is:
A small palette packed with nine neutral shades, and a how-to Glamour Guide to help you achieve the look.
What it does:
Natural Eyes comes housed in a sleek, mirrored tin with a step-by-step guide to creating universally flattering looks. It features nine neutral shadows, including three new hues, larger sizes of three complementary shadows, and three Too Faced favorites. Too Faced co-founder Jerrod Blandino designed the Natural Eyes Palette as the must-have solution for women who want to create a natural-looking eye appropriate for every day.
I discovered Too Faced products after I fell in love with Urban Decay’s Naked palette and wanted to try similar products from other brands. I believe my first palette from TF was the Natural at Night, then this one….or the Summer eye palette, either way, this palette was a follow-up to a built-up obsession with the product line. I do like that they set up an entire look with mattes alone, because a lot of the reviews I read online about TF products is that most of what they sell is shimmer-based and this having one of the looks designated to mattes alone, is a nice compromise. Personally, I love shimmer products more than mattes because they make my eyes brighter and make my fine lines and imperfections (pale eyelids that show veins through, red spots) disappear. Mattes seem to make my skin look drier and make my fine lines way more noticeable and the whole point of makeup is to conceal the look of imperfection, not intensify them.
The company included a How-To guide, as they do in every palette, which earns bonus points with me because it gives me direction on days I’m in a hurry or have no creative inspiration to do my makeup. The cards are also great for makeup beginners because it gives them an idea on what colors work together and what looks good as an eye look with the ability to tuck the cards away into their sleeve and get creative by mixing and matching the colors in the palette on their own.
In my opinion, natural looks get a bad rap because they’re “boring” and “all look the same,” and they very well might, but working with clients, including bridal parties, you’d be surprised what kind of look is requested the most and brings in the most revenue; you got it, natural looks. It is vital for any aspiring MUA to master the natural look on every kind of skin tone (oily, dry, mature) and every kind of complexion (light, medium, and dark skin tones) because bridal clients are the bread and butter of the industry, unless you’re in a union and work in entertainment. When you’re an independent contractor (freelance artist) most of your clients won’t want bold, avantgarde looks, they’ll want a look similar to an airbrushed look with a smoky eye look with natural tones (usually).
This palette is perfect to practice and perfect your craft with when starting out and even after that, since these shadows seem to last forever. Also, a lot of people are moving to wear less makeup due to many factors (busy lifestyle, self-love without makeup, no longer interested, etc.), so this palette helps keep the looks created simple, yet gives people the sense of habitual comfort that wearing makeup brings them. Also, being a massage therapist, it isn’t appropriate to wear a full, glammed out makeup look while I’m working on clients, so this palette is perfect on my massage days.

I love the romantic feel and design to the whole palette and how the entire color scheme is natural-based. The magnet that keeps the palette closed is the true champion of the durability factor. Yes, the material of the packaging is thick and bulky, giving it a very sturdy feel to it, but the fact that the magnet is so strong and has never popped open accidentally, is truly amazing. I’ve lost countless eyeshadows due to weak magnets that get weaker over time, but this magnet is such a trooper and has yet to fail me. The ribbon feature is a cute addition, but unsanitary in the end because there’s no way to clean it, so it just gets dirty over time, no matter how I try to avoid it.
As I’ve mentioned already, I’m a huge fan of the How-To guides included and I love the spacious-but-not-too-spacious layout of the colors. There’s enough room for the names and space so that I’m not worrying about dusting one color into another pan on accident when I’m going in with my brush, but not too much room that it feels like wasted space. The overall thickness of the palette does feel a bit bulky, especially since it doesn’t even come with a mirror. I honestly thought there was a mirror inside when I first bought the Natural at Night palette and that’s why the palette was so bulky, but nope. The bulkiness does give piece of mind that my shadows aren’t going to shatter (just like my heart would) when I drop this palette, because I’ve already dropped this more times than I can remember.
Performance/Wear: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★/5
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “Too Faced does not play around with their quality of product.” From the smooth powders to the intense pigment provided by each eyeshadow, this palette is a must-have! With just the slightest dab of my brush onto the powder, I get so much pigment without having to swish around my brush trying to break up and pick up product for the same results. The shadows blend so easily and gently on my skin while feeling lightweight all day. Some competitor eyeshadow formulas feel heavy on my lids and tend to make my eyes feel drowsy, but this is not one of those nap-time palettes. I never have to worry about creasing or fading because each color holds its place all day over the eyeshadow primer and it looks just as good as when I first applied it.
Only a couple of colors have a fallout issue, but quite a few are multi-purpose which gives me more bang for my buck! I mostly use the colors dry, because they’re pretty pigmented on their own, but they hold up just as well throughout the day when applied wet, for a more intense color payoff. A lot of beauty YouTubers will recommend using setting spray to wet your brush, but water works just fine, without wasting as much money as you would by using your setting spray to get the same results. I’ve compared the difference and worn one eye look with the eyeshadow applied wet by setting spray, and the other wet with water, and they both looked exactly the same at the end of the day.
One of the best parts about this palette is how it’s universally flattering for all complexions of all age and skin tone. I’ve used this on people with sensitive, mature, dark, light, oily, and combination, all with the same results because a natural look is flattering for anyone and everyone, while creative looks don’t wear that well for daily looks on those of us who don’t work in a makeup store. I’m not dissing bold makeup looks but any means, to be honest, I binge watch them on YouTube all the time, but what I’m saying is this palette is more practical and sensible of a purchase because of its versatility and that it can be used on a daily basis in any environment and be appropriate.
This is also a great gift idea if you have kids who are interested in wearing makeup, but you don’t want to invest in a million palettes yet (it gets seriously expensive). I’ve been told by some of my younger clients that this palette and the UD Naked palette are their favorites because they’re allowed to wear them to school. No matter the angle, you can’t go wrong with purchasing this palette.
