Catrice Cosmetics – Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette (010 – Frankie Rose to Hollywood)

Product Information

Online Description:

Soft nudes and trendy rosé shades – sometimes matt and sometimes shimmering – create a beautiful natural look no matter whether they are used solo or as a team. The supple texture convinces with a high colour-dispersion and thanks to the integrated brush, this set is also a practical travel companion.

My Thoughts:

I received this little palette from my Glossybox subscription a while back and was initially stoked because I always favor getting new makeup products. This ended up being a let-down, though because the colors aren’t very pigmented and have a major fallout issue. The brush in it is pretty useless because it doesn’t blend for the life of it. Luckily, there isn’t a scent so that works as a plus, but the overall wear of it brings this down the drain. Since it is cheap, it is a decent product for someone to buy their kids when they first start experimenting with makeup.

Performance/Wear:                          ★/5

There are honestly no positive aspects about this. I wanted to like this because it is affordable and the colors are perfect for daily looks that can easily go from day to night, but the colors just don’t work. They seem decently pigmented when I swatched them, but when I attempt to blend them, they all just seem to turn ashy and not show up. Even the ashy blended mess fades before my day is even done so the longevity is also crap. There is quite the fallout issue with every one of the eyeshadows and major kickback when I try to pick up product with a brush.

Price:                                                   ★/5

If you’re considering getting this as a gift for a little kid who’s barely playing with makeup, this is a decent investment. As for anyone who has anything more than a basic skillset of makeup, this is ridiculous purchase. Not ridiculous in an, “OMG-what-a-steal! Kind-of way” but a laughable price that anyone who wants quality product would pay for this.

Packaging:                                          ★/5

The packaging material feels incredibly cheaply made like there was no concern with how it would represent the brand. It feels like it’ll break if I brought it in my gym bag so I couldn’t touch up my look even though it’s necessary. As I mentioned, the brush/sponge is useless so that also takes points away from the packaging. The brush can’t blend and the sponge is a single-use only because it’ll just build up bacteria that risks infection which is never worth it. I like that the top part of the palette is clear so it’s easy to pick this out for a color scheme I would want to do for my look, unlike other palettes that don’t have that feature option.
