My Thoughts:

I got this shortly after I got the makeup vault with the rest of the product line from this brand in order to have more coverage and a base that matches my skin better. I have mixed feelings about this product that have flip-flopped over time. First, I don’t like that the expiration dates on their products are so soon after purchasing it. Second, I’m not a fan of the fish smell that this has and it intensifies when I’m in outside on even the cloudiest days. I do like how quick and easy it is to use, especially for the days I don’t want to spend a lot of time doing a full face of makeup and just want a bit of color on my face and head out the door. I also like how this does stay true to its name of being a ‘no-makeup’ line because as long as your skin matches one of the colors available or darker, the product genuinely looks like you’re not wearing any makeup on when worn. It is nice that the main priority of Perricone’s makeup line is skincare, but this product fell through on those results. This is a perfect product for those who like the bare minimum for makeup and is small enough that it makes it perfect for traveling. One main downside to this was that it separates inside the bottle which makes me think they manufacture it way before they sell it causing it to expire faster after being purchased. I’ve never had a product that does that so soon after getting it, so that knocks down its value in my book. Another downside is that I have to clean out the nozzle constantly because product dries up in there daily and under pressure, will shoot out like there’s a fire in the bottle which creates a splatter that I’m not keen on cleaning up every time I use this.

Performance/Wear:                          ★/5

The texture is a bit thick while still offering a bit of a blurring effect for imperfections, but doesn’t look well when I try to build it up for fuller coverage. Then again, I guess building coverage would be counterproductive to the whole ‘no-makeup’ look. This is marketed to have SPF in it, while not causing a filter or flashback in pictures. What I’m not a fan of, is how this only comes in two shades which this one is slightly too dark for me or anyone with a light complexion for that matter. The company suggests to add the bronzer or highlighter to make it lighter or darker, and the bronzer trick does work, but the highlighter doesn’t work because there’s shimmer in it. I really enjoy the thin fluidity of the serum that makes it easy to apply, but it does have a faint feeling of grit to it. This works on various skin types, but doesn’t work so well with different product formulas that don’t coordinate with this line. What I mean is I can’t wear an Urban Decay or Make Up For Ever foundation over this and still wear well throughout the day. Most of the time, it’ll either clump up together and crumble off as I try to blend it or it’ll just be very streaky because they won’t work together. Either way, the best way to wear this is with the products in the same line or alone. I never noticed any anti-aging benefits, so that’s a bit of a waste in my book considering it was the main reason I invested in the makeup in his product line.

Price:                                                   ★/5

For how much product I get for each bottle, this price isn’t the worst. I only ever need about 1 pump for each application so this bottle lasts me quite some time. It ends up lasting longer than the use by date on it, but I’m not about to throw away product that I spent a pretty penny on. I used this daily for a few months in a serious attempt to try using it up so it’s not getting further and further passed its expiration date, but this stuff seems to lasts forever.

Packaging:                                          ★/5

I have to give kudos to the Perricone brand because most of the packaging is very sturdy and I can repurpose it. All the jars and bottles I’ve used have all been reused in some way for other products that I moved to new containers because they came in squeeze tubes or small samples. The glass is a bit weighty, but it makes the bottle stronger and more resistant to breaking when impacted while in a bag. I love the pump that comes with the bottle because it not only makes for easy and precise dispensing, but it’ll work great for sanitation purposes when I repurpose it with product that I use in my makeup kit.
