Too Faced – Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick (Chihuahua)

Online Description:

What it is:
An intensely saturated lip color with a precise tip applicator.

What it does:
The shine of a gloss, lasting power of a stain, and pigment-packed color of a liquid lipstick, all in one high-impact formula. Bold, long-wearing color glides on cleanly with the precision tip applicator, delivering rich color with staying power.

What else you need to know:
A precision tip applicator eliminates the need for a lip liner, making this formula easier to apply.

Beauty Tip:
Layer with your favorite lip plumper for luscious, fuller-looking lips.

My Thoughts:

This is one of my favorite lipstick formulas to date and this color is just a universally flattering, natural color. It is a bit darker than my natural lip color, but it isn’t so dark that it takes on the look of a bold color and drawing attention to only my lips out of my whole look. I received 2 full sizes of this product from Glossybox a few months apart and you will never hear me complaining about getting double product with this quality. It baffles me seeing negative remarks towards this brand online because I’ve only ever had amazing experiences with this brand’s products. After getting my first color in this product from Glossybox, I knew I had to get more and ended up buying a makeup set that included this full-sized lipstick but with the color, Peony, in the set. I do not regret it one bit and have continued to purchase more Too Faced products since then. The formulas for every single one of their products that I’ve tried just feels like butter on the skin. They’re gentle, yet reliable, bold without bleeding, and compliment any skin tone. I can’t say that this has the shine of a gloss and I’m happy it doesn’t. It wears like a true cream lipstick in the sense that it applies, wears, and looks very creamy, and with just a hint of shine to it; the same shine that comes in any cream-finish lipstick. The texture alone gives life to its namesake, Melted, since it’s creamier-than-average texture applies so much easier and faster than traditional lipsticks in normal tubes (not referring to liquid lipsticks in tubes). Although there isn’t a need for lip balm underneath this, I still recommend exfoliating prior to applying this because it will enhance any chapped spots in your lips.

Performance/Wear:                          ★/5

Since this is one of my favorite products, I think it goes without saying that I reach for this more than most of my other lipsticks. I have a few favorites and this lipstick, with it’s creamy formula, makes the list. This doesn’t bleed which is great for a more long-lasting and flattering wear of it, and saves money from not needing to also purchase a lip liner to use with it. The precision tip makes application quick and fine-tuned. I never need much product for each application and the formulas makes it so there isn’t any extra stress put on my skin from possible tugging or drying out my lips. My lips feel so moisturized the entire time I wear this and there isn’t a necessity to apply lip balm prior to applying this because this lipstick feels like it does plenty of moisturizing on its own. When you’re in a pinch, this can also be used as a cream blush if used sparingly, because, remember, the pigment doesn’t play around with this. This does smudge and transfer so you’ll need to bring it with you for touch-ups throughout the day. Removal is so easy since it has such a rich texture to it, whether you use a makeup wipe or cleansing oil. I don’t know what it is about this, but it does give my lips a fuller look as promised on their page, but don’t expect to go from zero to Dolly Parton just by using this. It gives the illusion of fuller than your natural thickness if lips, but in no way, does it have that stinging feel that lip-plumping products have since this does not do that. It “dries” quickly, although it never really feels like most lip products do when they dry. For me, I see the visual difference when it seems to have dried on my lips, but it doesn’t create a dehydrated feeling on my lips and instead, my lips feel moisturized all day. When it does fade during the day, it fades evenly leaving a natural stain-like look instead of that patchy mess that many other lipsticks cause after talking and drinking throughout the day.

Price:                                                   ★/5

Worth every penny. I always say “quality over quantity,” since I had such a terrible reaction from using drugstore makeup I purchased in order to try and save money. This is worth the money and it lasts quite a long time because it’s so pigmented and has a creamy formula.

Packaging:                                          ★/5

The main downside is that the fuzzy texture on the tip will never be clean once you squeeze product out the first time. It isn’t the worst thing for keeping it in your own kit since you limit the chances of cross-contaminating it with other surfaces, but it’s terrible for having in a makeup kit. The reason I say that is because even if you only remove product with a spatula and any client’s lips never come in contact with the tip, it still builds up bacteria over time from the moisture from the product sitting in the fibers. It’s a double-edged sword, but one I’m willing to make for my own makeup since everything about it is so great. If the company happens to repackage this in a plastic tube with a removable wand, I wouldn’t be upset about that and I could finally start using this awesome formula on clients, but until then, I’ll keep these all for myself. The squeeze tube aspect of this is also a catch 22 because the size makes it easy for travel and more controlled dispensing, but it also is pretty tough to squeeze product out, which I know is meant to be a good thing to avoid product from seeping out everywhere, but it also makes it harder for those of use with hand and wrist pain to get more product out. I love the attention to detail Too Faced outs with their products. Of course, they maintain a consistent theme to their products, while still adding small unique details to each collection. This lipstick is from the Melted line and mixed with its unique Too Faced details, this speaks of sophistication, yet simple chic. It’s nice that the material doesn’t feel cheap and like it could snap or be punctured easily.
