WHAT IT IS:
A tinted moisturizer that combines hydration with a hint of coverage for naturally glowing skin.
WHAT IT DOES:
Get a gorgeous glow with a tinted moisturizer that enhances, your natural skin without covering up. This innovative complexion hybrid formula is infused with hydrating and conditioning ingredients—including Shea Butter, Evening Primrose Oil and Muru Muru Seed Butter—to leave your skin feeling moisturized with a dewy glow. Pink Peony soothes the skin. Curated in carefully developed shades that cover a wide range of skintones, this balm is ideal for dry to normal skin types.
WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Since this formula is a hybrid of moisturizer and foundation, you may not need more than a lightweight moisturizer underneath.
– Warm two pumps between your fingers to soften, then apply it as you would a moisturizer.
– If you want higher coverage in specific areas, spot correct with a full-coverage foundation or concealer.
I received this decent-sized sample of this tinted moisturizer from Sephora during one of their promotions to try this product and initially, I dismissed the worth of the product before even trying it because of past experiences with disappointing tinted moisturizers. I have only found a couple tinted moisturizers to be of any worth, like the Laura Mercier – Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 – Oil Free (Porcelain). Normally, tinted moisturizers disappoint when it comes to any kind of color payoff and either get returned or just used in my skincare regimen and never repurchased. However, this one really caught me by surprise. On the first impression, I still didn’t like it and wasn’t the least bit impressed, but I’m glad I gave it another shot because after that, I fell in love with it. I am in love with how much coverage comes with this! I would expect this to be labeled a BB cream or CC cream at minimum because it does maintain a dewy, natural finish to it, but it also covers blemishes way better than any other tinted moisturizer I’ve ever seen. This product really raised the bar on my future expectations on tinted moisturizers, which is part of the reason I was surprised to see that the company had decided to discontinue the product. I wish I would’ve known that sooner so I could’ve purchased the full-size before my shade was sold out. This shade is a little too dark for my natural skin tone, but nothing a little bronzing can’t fix, right? This is one of the best products I could recommend as a gift for a friend that’s a makeup minimalist in their daily routine. This does seem to apply better when you warm and apply with my fingers, instead of the usual beautyblender that we’re all used to reaching for.

From my first impression of this, I not only wasn’t impressed, I kind of laughed at how useless this product seemed. I am glad I gave it another shot and tried applying it a different way to try a more thorough test of this product’s quality because it did not disappoint. The coverage is above any tinted moisturizer I’ve ever used and makes my face look so dewy and hydrated. My issue with this before was that it didn’t work well with other products being layered on top of it, like foundation, powder, bronzer, etc. However, worn alone with maybe some cream blush for my cheeks and this looks wonderful! It makes my skin look younger by moisturizing my skin and the ‘blurring’ effects from the bit of shimmer in it. Did I mention there’s some shimmer in it? Yeah, there’s that but it isn’t anything like marketed ‘highlighters’ these days. The shimmer in this is very subtle and seems to really only work to rid the look of fine lines and tired, dry skin. I haven’t tried this on any other complexions, mostly because this sample is pretty small, but also because as I mentioned, this is best worn alone and most people don’t pay to have their makeup done to look like they’re not wearing any. I wanted to test out the wearability through sweat and oil even if I couldn’t try it on a friend or client with oily skin, so I wore this one a hot, summer day around Universal Studios and y’all, it held up! It held up not only through the unforgiving heat from the sun, but also through my countless breaks through Universal’s mist fans. Changing from water to sweat and adding heat to the party didn’t break this product’s durability which really impressed me! I expected by a couple hours into the day that it would’ve broken up and become blotchy but it didn’t. The pigment maintains a bit of sheerness to it, but still helps those of us with acne scars by minimizing the discoloration from scarring. The consistency takes a little bit to get used to initially because it’s not like most base formulas, but then again, this doesn’t wear like any tinted moisturizer I’ve ever used before either. This particular shade does come off a bit more yellow than my normal skin tone, so I use it when I do light self-tanning to help balance out my skin to help my face match the rest of my body.

Quality over quantity, right? I have become more comfortable with going out with more bare skin on my face than I’m normally used to and that’s in attempts for healthier skin. The price of this would help maintain that over an extended period of time due to not needed much product for each application and the quality being worth the price tag.

My sample has awful packaging, but the full-size has made me a fan. I love any company that places their products with pump dispensers over squeeze tubes any day. It not only helps avoid unnecessary added pain to those of us with hand and wrist pain, but it makes it easier to better gage how much product is needed for each application and how long each bottle will last.
