My Thoughts:

The company isn’t kidding when they warn not to overuse this because it’s very easy to do so and you end up with the grossest, greasiest hair when you do. My hair was super dry from being out in the sun all day and I got a bit carried away with the amount I was using because I was frustrated with how dry and brittle my ends were and ended up looking like I swiped my hair through some bacon grease or something like that. It just wasn’t cute AT ALL. Our hair cuticles can only absorb so much at a time and this product seems to be more for intense moisturization than just daily maintenance and adding any more than the bare minimum results in it just sitting on the hair strand instead of actually penetrating and absorbing. With just a spritz or two, this works perfect. I prefer to use this as a finishing product or adding it to a deep conditioning treatment for a little extra oomph. For example, I’ll use it to help my ends not look so abused after I use a style my hair with a hot tool and a 3:1 ratio for making a deep conditioning treatment with oil. Deep conditioning treatments usually do work more intensely with oils added to them, but you need to be wary of the ratio because the results will vary depending on the consistency of both the deep conditioning treatments and the oil you use. With just a couple of sprays after I use hot tools, my ends are soft and polished and who doesn’t love healthy, beautiful hair? What impressed me was that it never made me break out when product got on my face despite it being a thicker oil compared to other brands. Now, that isn’t an excuse to be lazy and let the product sit on your face if it happens to get on it, because you still need to wipe it off, but our skin is the hardest working organ on our bodies after our hearts and it is constantly absorbing particles that come into contact with it. My skin is very dry and sensitive and still managed not to have a reaction to this product which made me a fan. I love the sturdy packaging and ease of using the nozzle/spritzer because not only can I repurpose the packaging when I buy the full size and refill this to take it with me on trips, but it isn’t painful to use for those of us with hand and wrist pain. What I did find annoying is that there weren’t any instructions on the bottle itself and I had to research the product to find out the proper way to use it. Now, I’m not one to follow directions to a T, but I prefer to know and initially try it according to its intended purpose, and then experiment on myself how it can work in other ways. For instance, our hair is made of keratin, which is the same protein that makes up our skin and nails and I prefer to spray my ends with this and finger comb the product through the ends which will distribute it through the bottom area of my hair and condition my hands as well. Having dry skin, this actually doesn’t overdo it for my hands. I’ve sprayed it straight on my hands to see how well the absorption rate is on them and there is no greasy residue, it simply absorbs and leaves my hands feeling baby soft without an overpowering scent. I received this in a Glossybox subscription last year and I’d recommend this, just be wary of getting it too close to the roots on dry hair. If you do, it just takes out volume and adds too much shine. I have found that you can counter it if you add some dry shampoo there, but I only suggest that if you do it by accident once or twice, I DO NOT recommend doing that as a daily routine because it will cause way too much buildup for your hair follicles that could cause promote hair loss. It works well for short hair styles that like the shiny, refined, and polished look (think comb-overs). Also, it doesn’t seem to affect clothes and I have yet to get an oil stain in my clothes from this. We all know how annoying oil stains can be in clothes because if you don’t take care of it immediately, the piece of clothing is pretty much done for. Thumbs up, Phyto!
